How much do private tennis lessons cost?

A one-hour private lesson is $100 with Hayk and $120 with Markos. If you train two or more times a week, the package rate brings that to $90 and $110 per session. Group lessons for three to four players are $55 per player. Private coaching across Los Angeles typically runs from $85 to $140 an hour, so both of our rates sit inside the normal range for the area. Markos is at the upper end as head coach and the one who also takes hitting-partner sessions — not because the coaching itself is different.

Which coach should I book — Hayk or Markos?

Either. Both coach the full game at every level, so the honest answer is to take whichever one has the time you want. If you would like a steer: Hayk is on court most weeks with children, juniors and players starting out, and Markos most weeks with 3.0-and-up players, competitors and adults who want technical work at speed. Tell us the age and level when you book and we will say who we would put you with — including when that is the cheaper option.

Do I need to be a club member, or bring my own court?

No. We arrange the court, and there is no membership to join. And if you already have a court you would rather use — a club, an apartment building, a school, a private court at home — we will come to you instead. Just say so when you book.

My child has never held a racket. Is that a problem?

That is the most common first lesson we run. Hayk starts children as young as five with shorter rackets, lower-compression balls and a court scaled to their size, so they are rallying in the first session instead of missing for an hour. Nothing needs to be bought in advance.

What happens in the first lesson?

The first twenty minutes are assessment — we watch you or your child hit and find the one or two things holding the level back. The rest of the hour goes into the first of those. At the end you get a straight answer about where you are, what we would work on over the next month, and how often you would need to train to get there.

What ages do you coach?

From five years old to adults in their seventies. Hayk handles the youngest players and beginners of any age; Markos coaches from solid intermediate through tournament level.

Where exactly do you coach?

Two main areas. Around South Pasadena we are mostly at Hermon Park and South Pasadena High School, and we cover Pasadena, Altadena, San Marino, Sierra Madre, Arcadia, La Cañada Flintridge, Eagle Rock, Highland Park, Glendale and Burbank from there. On the Westside we coach at Colorado Center Park and other public courts around Santa Monica. Ask for the exact court and we will tell you — or tell us where you are and we will suggest the closest one and send the address when we confirm your lesson.

How do I book, and how fast will you reply?

Text or call (747) 336-1223, or fill in the booking form on this site. Either one reaches us directly — there is no agency, no marketplace and no call centre in the middle. Most enquiries get an answer within a couple of hours during the day.

What is the cancellation policy?

Give us 24 hours notice and we will move the lesson at no charge. Inside 24 hours we will always try to reschedule, but the slot was held for you and may be charged.

Do you coach doubles, or just singles?

Both. Doubles positioning, poaching, serve-and-return patterns and partner communication are a normal part of adult coaching here — plenty of our adult players compete in doubles leagues rather than singles.

Do you offer group lessons or clinics?

Yes — three to four players at $55 each. Bring your own group and we will run it, or tell us your level and we will try to place you with players who match.

What is a "hitting partner" session and who is it for?

It is not a lesson. It is an hour of live-ball rallying at competitive intensity with Markos — patterns, drills off real pace and match simulation. Players use it between lessons when they need a training session rather than instruction. $120 an hour.
