Markos Tennis
About us

A small coaching program, built the way we would want to be coached

Markos Tennis is two coaches working across Pasadena and the eastern side of Los Angeles. No franchise, no marketplace, no rotating roster of instructors you have never met.

Why this exists

Markos Mkrtchyan came through a European training background, competed internationally, and has spent the last five years coaching in Los Angeles — including at Khachatryan Tennis Academy in Burbank. Over that time he has worked with more than a hundred students, from six-year-olds through to tournament juniors and competitive adults.

What became obvious across those years is that most players are not badly coached. They are wrongly coached. Beginners get put with performance coaches who explain in a language they do not speak. Competitive juniors get put in group clinics that cannot give them what they need. Both leave believing they are the problem.

Markos Tennis is built around fixing that specific thing. Two coaches, each genuinely strong at a different end of the game, and an honest conversation at the start about which one you should be with.

How we work

Every player gets matched before they get booked. Every session has a plan behind it rather than an hour of feeding. Every parent gets a message after a junior lesson describing what their child actually worked on. And the person who answers the phone is the person who will be on the court with you.

We arrange courts across Pasadena, South Pasadena, Altadena, San Marino, Sierra Madre, Arcadia, La Cañada Flintridge, Eagle Rock, Highland Park, Glendale, Burbank and Downtown Los Angeles, so no membership is needed anywhere.

Where this is going

The plan is to grow this into a proper junior program — more coaches, group development squads, holiday camps — without losing the thing that makes it work now, which is that a player is coached by someone who knows their game rather than by whoever had a gap in the diary.

We will announce new programs here as they open. In the meantime, what is on this site is exactly what we run.

Why players choose us

There is no shortage of tennis coaching in Los Angeles.
There is a shortage of this.

01

Two coaches, every level, one standard

Both teach the full game and both take any player. Tell us the age and level and we will say which of them we would put you with — you are matched, not just slotted in.

02

You book us, not a marketplace

No booking platform, no service fee, no rotating instructor you have never met. You text the coach who will be on the court with you.

03

A plan, not an hour of feeding

Every player gets a short plan — what we are changing, in what order, and what it should look like in four weeks. Parents get a message after each lesson.

04

We bring the court to you

No membership required. Tell us where you are between Downtown LA and the foothills and we arrange a court close to you.

Choose your coach

Two coaches. Pick the one built for your game.

Both coaches teach the whole game to every level — technique, footwork, serve, movement and match play. What differs is who each one is on court with most weeks. Book whichever suits your schedule; if you would rather we picked, just tell us the age and level.

Not sure which one? Either coach will take you. Tell us the player’s age and level when you book and we will say who we would put you with — including when that is the cheaper option. Get matched
