Background
Markos came up through a European training background before competing internationally, and has spent the last five years coaching in Los Angeles — including as a coach at Khachatryan Tennis Academy in Burbank alongside his own private clients.
Across that time he has worked with more than a hundred students, from six-year-olds holding a racket for the first time through to tournament-level juniors and adults competing in league play. That range matters: a coach who has only ever taught advanced players tends to explain badly, and a coach who has only ever taught beginners cannot see what is going wrong at the top of the game.
On his own playing record: multiple tournament titles, international competition, and varsity MVP honours. He still trains and still competes, which is the reason he can be a genuine hitting partner rather than just a coach who feeds balls.
How he coaches
Direct. Sessions start with an honest read on what is actually costing you points — which is very often not the shot you think it is — and then spend the hour fixing it in the order that produces the fastest visible change.
The emphasis is on tennis that survives a match. It is easy to make a forehand look good on a feed; it is much harder to keep it under pressure at 4–4, and that is where competitive coaching earns its money. Expect work on patterns, serve placement, return position, between-point routines and what to do when the plan stops working.
He is also unusually direct about what he cannot help with. If a player in front of him would get more out of an hour with Hayk at $100, he will say so.

What Markos costs
A one-hour private lesson is $120. Training two or more times a week brings that to $110 a session under the weekly package. Group sessions of three to four players are $55 per player, and hitting partner sessions are $120 an hour. Court arranged, no membership required, no booking fee.

What level does Markos coach?
Solid intermediate through tournament level, plus adults who want serious technical work. Juniors from around twelve, and younger players who have outgrown fundamentals coaching. Complete beginners are better served by Hayk at $100 — we will tell you if that is you.
Why is Markos $120 an hour?
Because of the depth of what the hour covers: stroke mechanics under pressure, serve development, point construction, opponent patterns and the mental side of competing — coached from an international competitive playing background. Private coaching across Los Angeles typically runs $85 to $140 an hour, so this sits in the upper-middle of the local range.
Is Markos available as a hitting partner?
Yes — $120 an hour for competitive-intensity live-ball practice, pattern drilling and match simulation. It is one of the few genuinely high-level hitting options in the area.
Does Markos coach children?
From about twelve upwards, and younger juniors who are already technically sound and moving towards competition. For first rackets and early fundamentals, Hayk is the better and cheaper choice.
